Small Big

Small…Big is narrated by a boy who sounds indignant about being considered little. He engages in a monologue to demonstrate that though he is little and sometimes needs help from adults, he is often big and able to do things by himself. He lists the things he cannot do alone and the things he can and concludes that when he grows up he will be able to do everything on his own. The story boosts children’s self-esteem, teaches them that it is normal to seek help at this stage in life, and encourages them to be independent.
