A Sudanese doctor and a novelist related to the renowned author Tayeb Salih. He has published 16 books from novels, biographies and poetry. From his most important works: The Korak Council, French Perfume, and The Crawling of the Ants. His work was well received in literary and critique circles and became popular internationally after being translated to many languages such as English, French, Italian, and Spanish. His novel French Perfume is one that was translated into the French language. His Novel The Hunter of the Chrysalises was short-listed in the Arabic Booker Prize in 2011 and his novel 366 made it into the long list for the Arabic Booker prize in 2014.
