Mariana Ruiz Johnson was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1984. She is currently attending her last courses for her Bachelors in Visual Arts at the IUNA (National University Institute of Art). Since 2005 she has been specializing her studies as an illustrator at the Sótano Blanco Art School with José Sanabria. She has also studied with other great illustrators such as Saúl Oscar Rojas, Claudia Legnazzi and Svetlan Junacovic.She is perfecting herself in child and teen literature at Susana Cazenave de Rodríguez’ workshop. She is a teacher of Creative Processes designed by José Sanabria at the Sótano Blanco Art School as well as of techniques seminars at the same school.In 2009 her album-book project Irupé y Yaguareté was a finalist at the A la Orilla del Viento Prize of the Fondo de Cultura Económica. She currently works as an independent illustrator.
