Massa loves colored pencils, but her red pencil is her favorite. One day she notices
that it is getting shorter, and that upsets her and makes her use it sparingly. To show her appreciation of the pencil, she decides to give it a home and a family, so she asks her family to get her colored pencils and a nice box on her birthday.
The story claims room for pencils and paper in a digital world where touch-screen tablets and laptops rule, by encouraging children to love pencils and coloring. It also teaches children to appreciate and take care of their belongings.
