Dancing Letters (English)

Author: Sahar Naja Mahfouz
Illustrator: Nour Bishouty

A young boy begins to see letters dancing everywhere—on the board, in his books, even in his homework. At first, he finds it fun and makes up rhythms to match their movements. But soon, the dancing letters become a problem. They give him headaches, make reading difficult, and cause his school grades to drop. He doesn’t understand what’s wrong or how to explain it to anyone.

One day, his father notices the struggle and takes him to the optometrist. With a new pair of eyeglasses, the letters stop dancing, and everything becomes clear again.

Dancing Letters sheds light on children’s vision problems and how they can go unnoticed. It emphasizes the important role of parents and caregivers in observing, understanding, and addressing such challenges early on.
