"A girl witnesses a newborn foal trying to stand while the mare pushes it gently to stand up again after each failed attempt until it finally succeeds. The scene reminds the girl of her deceased mother and she bursts into tears. She later realizes that she is like the foal in her needing for her mother and like the mare in her caring for her little brother. The story is touching and sensitive, showing an example of healing and strength after the loss of a parent.
