This publication presents the exhibition, which is a collection of works by young girls and boys attending the infant-toddler centers and preschools run by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
Drawing stories and narrating them means imagining, analyzing, exploring spaces, shapes, colors, words, metaphors, emotions, rhythms, playing with time, and entering the narrative dimension both internal and external to oneself, and experimenting with interpretations of reality and fantasy.
Although drawings and words are two distinct languages, words and stories, whether silent or spoken, always go hand in hand with drawing or intertwine with it, creating a mosaic that is often both clever and poetic.
Through this research, we have tried as much as possible to understand this interweaving more deeply, to uncover and bring to life the richness of knowledge and expression that children have used in their drawings, materials, and words.
About the Reggio Emilia Approach:
The Reggio Emilia Approach® is an educational philosophy based on the image of a child with strong potentialities for development and a subject with rights, who learns through the hundred languages belonging to all human beings, and grows in relations with others.
